Last year I wrote a book! In the introduction, I gave a brief summary of who I am. Here's a bit if you are curious about me...
At 18, I attended college and studied City Planning at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. There, I learned about cities, old and new. I honed my drawing skills through many projects. I practiced drawing places and ideas in studio and on-site. I filled my journals with doodles in the margins as I took notes and learned new things. I saw my education as a gift, and I pursued learning and living with a passion.
As college ended, I completely took a break. I took time to breathe and travel. I went on many adventures. I traveled to faraway destinations, where I skied, danced, and went to the beach every day. It was bliss. This time in my life, when I learned to say “YES!” to adventure, was priceless.
I like to think that this spirited young adult is still in me, even though I look a little older, and have been through a lot of life. This is the spirit that I try to bring to the art that I create. It's my foundation - one that I am very thankfulful for, and try to build on when I draw, paint, and write.
I think if we return to who we were as children, and be like children, we will remember our true talents. It's those talents that are unique to each of us, and can be used to make art.
